I am so proud to announce that I am creating a new initiative empowering aspiring chefs from the Latin community to follow their dreams and attend the best culinary school in the United States; The International Culinary Center.
Todd Price from Times Picayune wrote “Across America, many restaurant kitchens rely heavily on the talents of Latino cooks. But few of those cooks advance to the top of their field, becoming chefs de cuisine or executive chefs. “It can be difficult to work your way up the ladder from dishwasher or line cook to executive chef,” Sánchez said in an interview, “and I feel like there aren’t many opportunities for aspiring chefs, especially from the Latin community, to get to that next level.” With a new scholarship, Sánchez hopes to do his part to change that.”
To raise funds for their scholarship, I have invited some of my mentors and mentees (Chefs Douglas Rodriguez, José Colin Jr., Miles Landrem and Deuki Hong) to join me for a very special dinner in New Orleans on November 3, 2016 from 7-10 PM at Pigeon & Prince. Join us to support this amazing cause to diversify kitchen leadership for the next generation.
